Aqueous coating is a clear water-based coating that is used to protect printed surfaces from scuffing, scratching and fingermarks.

Aqueous coating is applied with a blanket and not a plate, and can be ran inline on the press allowing faster drying. However, this process is not suited for specific spot varnish application.
